Dick Lindstrom, President

Richard “Dick” Lindstrom, Sr came to Camas in 1960 after serving four years in the Navy. He went to work at the Crown Zellerbach Paper Mill and retired 35 years later in 1995 as a journeyman maintenance electrician. In 2008 he began to volunteer at the Two Rivers Heritage Museum and has been involved as a member of the board, tool curator, and whatever needs to get done that he can do. He has five sons, six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Lois Cobb, Vice President

Lois Cobb has served the Historical Society since 2006. Currently she is the Volunteer and Tour Coordinator. Lois is a lifelong Washougal native. She retired as a Level A Pharmacy Tech. Lois and her husband, Jim, have been married since 1967 and have five children and six grandchildren.

Nancy Carroll, Secretary

Nancy grew up on her grandfather’s original homestead in Colfax, WA and moved to Spokane, WA, shortly after graduating from high school. She completed her Bachelor’s and MBA degrees from Eastern Washington University and enjoyed a long career at Avista, a utility company headquartered in Spokane, WA. After 45 years living in Spokane, Nancy and her husband moved to Vancouver, WA, in September 2019 to be closer to their daughter and her family who live in Lake Oswego, OR. She enjoys activities such as square dancing, hiking, walking, and reading, especially historical fiction. She began volunteering at Two Rivers Heritage Museum in January 2022.

Betty Egger, Treasurer

Betty has lived in Washougal since 1992 and has been a member of the Historical Society since early 2007. She enjoyed a career that spanned 38 years in the Title Insurance industry where she started as an Accounts Receivable and Payable Clerk and retired as an Escrow Officer, LPO in 2001. Betty likes working with numbers and volunteering, making the Treasurer position a great fit for both her and the Society.

Marilyn Brown, Public Relations/Publicity

Marilyn Brown has lived in Camas since 2003 and retired from working in social service and sales and continues in property management. Volunteer work has included 30 years as a Little League Advisor, Habitat for Humanity, C-W Soroptimist and the Methodist Church. She has three children and six grandchildren.

Alma Ladd

Our vice president, Alma Ladd, has been a member since 1990 and served as the first Volunteer Coordinator for the Historical Society and Two Rivers Heritage Museum. She has lived in Camas and Washougal all her life and graduated from Washougal High School. As a full time volunteer, she is also a member of Camas-Washougal Women’s Club, LaCamas Navy Mothers Club and Relay for Life. She has chaired the Museum Plant Fairs for the last ten years and plans programs for the Historical Society. She and her husband, Charles, have two daughters and many grand and great grandchildren.

James Cobb

Jim was born in Portland Oregon and grew up in the East Mill Plain area west of Camas. He is a graduate of the old Union High School and married his wife, Lois, in 1967. He has lived in Washougal since 1965 and is retired from the USAR after 30 years of service. He worked in the construction trades as a bookkeeper, driver, and mechanic, and was Washougal’s first city Jr. Engineer. His other activities include Secretary of North Bank Masonic Lodge in Washougal for 20 years and active member of the International Shrine Clown Association for 35 years.

Gretchen Hoyt

Gretchen Hoyt is a lifelong resident of Clark County, where she has dedicated the past two decades to various roles, including homemaker, volunteer, board member, and staff member in some wonderful local establishments. She is very eager to foster meaningful connections in the community through the care and preservation of the local history.

Outside of Two Rivers Heritage Museum, you will find Gretchen knitting, reading, and spending time with her husband, daughter, and their loyal companions, Medic the dog and Cricket the cat.

Richard Johnson

Richard Johnson is a past two-term president of the Camas-Washougal Historical Society. He retired in 2005 from the Washington State Fisheries and Fish and Wildlife after 37 years in the Fish Program, and also served on the Columbia Springs Board of Directors. He and his wife Karen have been married for 50+ years and have two sons. Richard has lived in the area for over 40 years, watching the area grow and become a premier community for families, education, and recreation.

Ivar Godtlibsen

Ivar Godtlibsen is a native of Portland, Oregon. After a few years in the military he moved to Vancouver in 1978 with his wife, Gayle. They relocated to Washougal in 2005. Ivar was a TRHM volunteer for a time in 2011 and 2012. He retired in 2015 after a long career in the electronics industry. In addition to Board duties, he currently serves as the Museum’s Computer Network and Support Administrator.

Madeline Mesplay

Madeline Mesplay came to Portland Oregon after she and her husband graduated from New Mexico Highlands University in Las Vegas, New Mexico. They both then worked at a youth prison before moving to Portland. Madeline worked as a teacher with the Reynolds School District at the Louise Home in NE Portland. She then received her MS in Learning Disabilities at PSU in 1970 and her MEd in Counseling Psychology at Lewis and Clark College in Portland in 1981. Her family returned to New Mexico and worked on the Navajo Reservation near Gallup, NM, also spending 4 years in Roswell until returning to the Pacific Northwest, settling in Vancouver, WA. She worked at the Lewis and Clark Alternative School in Vancouver until her retirement. She has worked at the museum in the Research area since 2020.

Josh Stahly

Josh Stahly was born in Spokane, WA. After attending flight school in North Dakota, he and his wife Jodi moved to the Vancouver/Camas area in 2006 to fly for Horizon Airlines. Josh has been a volunteer at the museum for the past 10 years. In 2015 Josh transitioned to Alaska Airlines. Jodi is also a pilot for Alaska. They have one daughter, Lydia. They keep busy with soccer, tennis, traveling, and crafts.

Pat Suggs

Pat grew up in Los Angeles. After college she and her husband moved to Washougal 47 years ago. Their family consists of six daughters and 19 grandchildren, mostly boys. She’s worked for many years for the Washougal School District. She’s been a substitute teacher and a para educator. She’s always loved history and genealogy. She’ll gladly help you research your local ancestors.
